How to Make Your Makeup Last All Day

So, you get up early in the morning to do your makeup. You put so much time and effort into it and now just two hours later, it looks like you’ve done nothing. All of your hard work has either faded away or your face has become an oil slick. I’ve been there and I know how to fix it. After all, why do your makeup if it’s not going to last until the end of the day?

Face Primers:

When applying your makeup you should start off with a freshly washed face. You don’t want to put makeup on a dirty face. That will just cause acne and bad skin. Then you want to start with some type of face primer. There are many different types depending on what type of skin you have. There are also just basic types of primers that are good for all skin types.

Eye Shadow Primers and Bases:

Now on to the eyes which are usually the main focus of the face. Just like there are many types of face primers, there are many types of eye shadow primers. The purpose of them is to make sure your eye shadow lasts all day, prevent the colors from creasing into the fine lines of your eyes, and to make the colors appear more vibrant.

An eye shadow base is used specifically to make eye shadows appear more vibrant or to change the color of the shadow. For example, if you apply a black base to your eyes and put an iridescent sort of color on top, it can change your entire look. Some eye shadows work best with bases because need something extra to make them look even better.

Eyes shadow bases can be used with or without eye shadow primers but for best results, its best to use them together. Bases also help when applying a really light color, like a pale pink or a bright blue, to darker skin. Without a base those colors wouldn’t show up as much on darker skin and they wouldn’t last as long.

Lipstick Primers:

Lipstick primer is of course used to help make your lipstick last longer. However, not many people invest in them because lipstick just isn’t one of those things that last a long time, unless it’s a matte lipstick. However, I wanted to mention at least one lip primer since we’re trying to make all of our makeup last. I’ve never tried a lipstick primer, but I hear the one from M.A.C is pretty good.

But, a good trick to make your lipstick last without a primer is lip liner. Before putting on your lipstick, line your lips with a lip liner that matches your lipstick or one that is darker, depending on what look you’re going for. Then, fill in your lips with the liner before putting on your lipstick. That way even if your lipstick does fade a little, you’ll still have a little stain on your lips.

Makeup Setting Sprays:

Last but not least, you need a makeup setting spray. This spray comes in many different types and often looks like a can of hair spray. When you’ve finished every last step of your makeup, spray a decent amount over your face and that will help to seal everything in place ensuring the longevity of your makeup application.
